No. A fire door is an assembly of the door leaf, frame, seals, hardware and locking, and every part has to meet the standard for the doorset to keep its rating. The rating is set by the weakest part, so the hardware matters as much as the door itself.
Two standards apply. AS 1530.4:2014 covers fire resistance testing for elements of construction, including door hardware. AS 1905.1:2015 covers fire resistant doorsets: their design, construction and installation, how hardware is assessed for them, latching hardware, durability, and smoke control such as self-releasing latches and door seals.

Most of our fire rated hardware reaches 2 hours. Some door closer setups and thinner doors are rated at 90 or 60 minutes. Tell us about your door system and we’ll confirm the rating before you order.
No. Our Bullet+Stone concrete and Monte timber collections are not fire rated, so they shouldn’t be specified for fire doors. For a fire door, choose from our brass or zinc lever designs fitted with the ML2000 mortice lock.
