Installation & Compatibility

What is the minimum and maximum door thickness for your sliding door flush pulls, Bull Pulls and Blade Pulls?
Most of our flush pulls, Bull Pulls and Blade Pulls can be installed on a minimum of 35 mm door thickness to any maximum thickness. Some Blade Pulls can be installed on 16 mm cupboard doors with a Pan-head screw from the back.

Can your flush pulls be installed on both timber and glass sliding doors?
Most of our flush pulls can be installed on timber doors; however, our blade pulls can be installed on both timber and glass doors.

Are your flush pulls suitable for both new builds and retrofitting existing sliding or cavity doors?
All of our flush pulls can be used for new builds and renovation of existing sliding or cavity/pocket doors. Sometimes, if you have existing doors, you may need to ensure that the flush pull you select covers the existing hole in your door.

How deep does the cut-out need to be for a flush pull?
Between 15 to 20 mm maximum.

Are your flush pulls compliant with DDA/ADA requirements for accessibility?
Flush pulls are not ADA or DDA compliant as functionality within the handle is easy to grasp and can be used with a closed fist or flat palm. Our Blade Pulls are compatible with ADA and DDA as they have an easy-to-grip handle, but the door cannot go all the way back into the pocket/cavity.

Do your flush pulls work with “soft-close” or “self-closing” sliding door systems?
Yes, all our flush pulls will work with any sliding door closing system. The Blade Pulls will need to stop short of the cavity/pocket before they get too close to the door frame.

What fixings are included (face-fix, concealed, etc.), and can I request alternatives?
All of our flush pulls are designed to be fixed in with an adhesive and an additional grub screw for aluminium doors or wood screw for timber doors.

Do your flush pulls have any lip on them if I want to use them flush on hinged doors?
Some of our flush pulls have a lip on them to use on hinged doors. We also have options without a lip for sliding door use only.

Can I order a Flush Pull / Bull Pull / Blade Pull at a special length or size?
Yes, we can custom-make almost anything—just ask us and we will be happy to assist.

Can I recess the flush pull completely into the door face?
Yes, as long as the door thickness allows. It is preferred that the cut-out is done by your door company or a mill workshop.

Design & Functionality

Are your flush pulls available in lockable/non-lockable options?
Yes, some of our flush and Bull Pulls offer integrated lockable and non-lockable options for bedroom and bathroom doors.

Can I install a flush pull on both sides of a sliding door?
Yes, you can. However, with the Bull Pull, one unit will do both sides of the door. Our Bull Pull is also available for double internal doors where one has a locking function and the other has the keeper or receiving function.

Do you offer edge pulls for fully recessed cavity doors?
Yes, we have light duty and heavy duty edge pulls for all cavity/pocket doors. Our Bull Pulls have an integrated edge pull so you can easily pull the door out of its pocket in the wall.

Is the finish/match consistent across your product ranges (levers, pulls, flush pulls, etc.)?
Yes, at Designer Doorware we pride ourselves on consistent finishes throughout our whole range so that you can have consistency throughout your whole project.

Practical Considerations & Maintenance

Are there particular finishes or materials recommended for high-humidity areas (bathrooms/laundries)?
Most of our products are made from solid brass and some are made from stainless steel. Consideration to finish needs to be made in line with our ‘about our finishes’ section as some are living and some offer limited lifetime durability.

Is the inside edge of the pull comfortable/safe to grip, even for older users or children?
Yes, most of our flush pulls and Bull Pulls have a chamfered edge to create a soft feel when using.
