botanical hotel

Overlooking Melbourne's Royal Botanic Gardens, the Botanical Hotel, known locally as "The Bot," has been a Melbourne icon for years. By the time of this refresh, its design had become tired and needed a complete rethink. Interior design firm WEBB+ was brought in to revitalise the venue, and Designer Doorware's architectural hardware and special finishes were a natural fit for their vision.

project brief

The owners wanted an all-day dining venue with real presence that kept its serious pub credentials. The priority was an inventive, high-quality dining experience inside a pub, and the whole job had to be turned around in five months.

response to brief

With a timeframe that tight, WEBB+ needed efficient partners who could still deliver the quality the design demanded. The aim was a timeless, warm interior rather than one that was fashionable or funky.

architectural door hardware solution

The door hardware had to suit the classic styling, with simple, bold shapes and a design that was robust but elegant. Polished Black Chrome, with its black lustre and mirror effect, gave the hardware a signature finish that carries through the whole venue.
