Installation & Compatibility

What is the minimum and maximum door thickness for your sliding door Flush Pulls, Bull Pulls and Blade Pulls?
Most of our Flush Pulls, Bull Pulls and Blade Pulls can be installed on doors with a minimum thickness of 35mm and no maximum thickness limitation. Some Blade Pulls can also be installed on 16mm cupboard doors using a pan-head screw fixed from the rear.

Can your flush pulls be installed on both timber and glass sliding doors?
Most of our Flush Pulls are suitable for timber doors. Our Blade Pulls can be installed on both timber and glass sliding doors.

Are your flush pulls suitable for both new builds and retrofitting existing sliding or cavity doors?
Yes. All of our Flush Pulls are suitable for both new builds and renovations involving existing sliding or cavity/pocket doors. When retrofitting, it is important to ensure that the selected flush pull adequately covers any existing cut-outs in the door.

How deep does the cut-out need to be for a flush pull?
The required cut-out depth is typically between 15mm and 20mm (maximum).

Are your flush pulls compliant with DDA or ADA accessibility requirements?
Flush Pulls are generally not DDA or ADA compliant due to their recessed design. While they can be operated with a closed fist or flat palm, they do not provide a projecting grip.

Our Blade Pulls, however, are suitable for DDA and ADA applications as they offer an easy-to-grip handle. Please note that when used on cavity or pocket doors, Blade Pulls require the door to stop short of fully retracting into the cavity.

Do your flush pulls work with soft-close or self-closing sliding door systems?
Yes, all of our Flush Pulls are compatible with soft-close and self-closing sliding door systems. Blade Pulls will require the door to stop before reaching the cavity or pocket frame to prevent interference.

What fixings are included, and can alternatives be requested?
Our Flush Pulls are designed to be fixed using a high-strength adhesive, with the addition of a grub screw for aluminium doors or a wood screw for timber doors. Alternative fixing options may be available upon request.

Do your flush pulls have a lip suitable for hinged doors?
Some of our Flush Pulls feature a front lip, making them suitable for hinged door applications. We also offer flush-only designs intended exclusively for sliding doors.

Can I order a Flush Pull or Blade Pull in a custom length or size?
Yes. We can custom manufacture most Flush Pulls and Blade Pulls to suit specific size or length requirements. Please contact us to discuss your project.

Can a flush pull be fully recessed into the door face?
Yes, provided the door thickness allows. We recommend that the recessing and cut-out be carried out by your door manufacturer or a qualified mill workshop.

Design & Functionality

Are your flush pulls available in lockable and non-lockable options?
Yes. Selected Flush Pulls and Bull Pulls are available with integrated lockable and non-lockable options suitable for bedroom and bathroom applications.

Can I install a flush pull on both sides of a sliding door?
Yes, Flush Pulls can be installed on both sides of a sliding door. For Bull Pulls, a single unit services both sides of the door. Bull Pulls are also available for double internal doors, with one side providing the locking function and the other acting as the keeper.

Do you offer edge pulls for fully recessed cavity doors?
Yes, we offer both light-duty and heavy-duty edge pulls suitable for all cavity and pocket doors. Our Bull Pulls also feature an integrated edge pull, allowing the door to be easily pulled out from within the cavity.

Is the finish consistent across your product ranges?
Yes. At Designer Doorware, we pride ourselves on finish consistency across our entire range, including levers, pulls, flush pulls and accessories, allowing for a cohesive look throughout your project.

Practical Considerations & Maintenance

Are certain finishes recommended for high-humidity areas such as bathrooms or laundries?
Most of our products are manufactured from solid brass, with selected ranges made from stainless steel. Finish suitability should be assessed in line with our About Our Finishes guidelines, as some finishes are living finishes while others offer limited-lifetime durability.

Is the inside edge of the pull comfortable and safe to grip?
Yes. Most of our Flush Pulls and Bull Pulls feature a chamfered internal edge, providing a soft and comfortable feel suitable for all users, including children and older individuals.
