“I have found Designer Doorware to be very good to deal with as they communicate well and work together with their clients to achieve their objectives. They met the brief for aesthetic and cost, as well as the ability to the service the projects time requirements” Matthew Corrigan, project Manager of L.U.Simon Builder

Project Brief
The Orbis and Momentum Apartments project was contracted by the joint venture partners Arno Corporation and Escor Pty Ltd to LU Simon Builders as a Design and Construct Contract after a fixed price tender process in 2013.

The project is located in South Melbourne and consists of two neighbouring buildings named ‘Orbis’ and ‘Momentum’. The site for the Orbis Building was originally an on grade Carpark with the new build consisting of 60 architect designed apartments with a 3 Level Basement. The site for the Momentum Building was a 1970’s seven level office building with car parking on the lower levels. Following this, Momentum has been constructed via the demolition of the facades, roof, existing stair and lift shaft and construction of a new fire escape and two lift shafts to service 59 apartments and 6 car parks on the Ground Level. Levels 6 and 7 are new construction and their facade line is set back from the levels below.

The Architectural Door Hardware Solution
A round and contemporary G2010 Pull Handle in Satin Brass Unlacquered Finish was installed on the front entry door which looked like a spherical tunnel. Citing the project website, the multi unit residential project was designed by Arm architects with a goal of expressing the vitality of city life and the interiors feature a natural palette and finishes with hints of the gold façade in the fixtures and light fittings featuring our Lodden Lever set, Ketia Lever set and Round Flush Pulls FP901, FP511 and FP512.
